Jounieh’s position on the bay creates a specific challenge that most imported LED fixtures are never designed for: salt-laden coastal air accelerates corrosion on housings, connectors, and any metal surface not rated for marine-adjacent exposure. EMC SuperLED engineers our outdoor range for this environment – not because we read about it in a textbook, but because Jounieh installations are in our own delivery area and we see what the sea does to under-specified fixtures.
Why LED Fixtures Fail in Jounieh - And How We Engineer Around It
The coastal environment adds a failure mode that doesn’t show up in standard testing:
- Salt spray corrosion: Jounieh Bay salt air accelerates corrosion on any unprotected housing, connector, or driver vent. Fixtures need IP65 at minimum for general outdoor use; seafront and direct-bay-facing installations should be IP67 or higher.
- UV degradation: Full south-facing Mediterranean sun exposure degrades polycarbonate lenses and low-grade housings faster than inland locations. Our housings use UV-stabilised materials rated for sustained outdoor exposure.
- Voltage conditions: Same generator and spike conditions as the rest of Lebanon apply – the coastal environment compounds the failure modes rather than replacing them.
